Transaction paves the way for first delivery of the latest in narrowbody aircraft technology
Following the announcement by GOL Linhas Aereas (GOL) that it has completed a deal for five Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, AWAS can confirm that it has contracted a purchase-leaseback agreement with Brazil’s largest airline. Delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for the second half of 2018, starting in June.
AWAS CEO, David Siegel said “AWAS has a long-standing relationship with GOL and we are excited about the purchase and leaseback of these five aircraft with one of the world’s most dynamic airlines. We are pleased to be in a position to provide a complete solution for GOL’s 737 MAX 8 requirements for 2018 and these near-term Boeing deliveries fit well with our own fleet mix requirements. We look forward to working with GOL in support of their already successful fleet strategy.”
GOL operates over 130 current generation aircraft and this transaction provides the airline with their first 737 MAX 8 airplanes. GOL is a long-standing AWAS customer and completion of this transaction will provide one of Latin America’s best recognised low cost carriers with the latest in narrowbody aircraft technology, facilitating the modernisation of their fleet.
